HP Pavilion x360 vs.
HP Envy x360
We’ll talk about each laptop in detail and see what makes it better than the other and vise versa.
HP Pavilion x360
Things we liked
- Lightweight and thin
- Full-sized standard keyboard (compatible with available keyboard covers)
- Full-sized HDMI socket – supports [email protected] just fine
- Full Windows 10 Home (NOT u0022S Modeu0022)
- Good battery life
- Convertible has great options for watching video or working without a keyboard
- Quiet fan – even going full blast it’s barely above a whisper
- Decent amount of storage – 512GB
- Legit M.2 drive (so it’s upgradeable)
- Great built-in mic
Things we didn’t
- Shiny reflective screen surface can be really distracting (mostly during dark scenes in videos)
- No u0022bumpersu0022 or rubber feet to protect the edge and stop slipping
- Screen is only around ~240 nits makes it only marginally usable in daylight – this is really an indoor screen
Let’s first take a look at the HP Pavilion x360 and see what makes it tick.
HP Pavilion x360’s Performance
You’ll be able to run 30 Chrome tabs and play 4 full-HD YouTube videos simultaneously on the Pavilion x360 with an Intel Core i5-8265U processor and 8GB of RAM.
HP Pavilion x360’s Graphics
Pavilion’s x360 scored more on the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark scoring 71938 out of the possible 72048.

HP Pavilion x360’s Display
With a screen size of 14 inches a 1920 x 1080 resolution the Pavilion x360 has a relatively dull display.
Although it’s relatively bright due to its glossy texture it makes it hard to see.
A Pavilion x360 panel covered 61% of the sRGB color space which is less than the laptop average of 76% nor is this much better than the Spin 3 the MateBook D and the ZenBook 13 (both 116%).
HP Pavilion x360’s Design
Designed with a bright gold paint finish the Pavilion x360 has a back of it stamped with a shiny HP logo.
A Pavilion logo can also be seen on the hinge of the laptop.
The hood is curved outward and then inward as it meets the deck.
This creates an hourglass design around the Pavilion x360.
HP Pavilion x360’s Ports
On the left side there’s a decent number of ports including one USB 3.0 port a headphone jack a power button and a security slot.
A USB 3.0 port on the right an HDMI port on the left and a memory card slot on the right.
HP Pavilion x360’s Keyboard and Touchpad
The Pavilion x360’s keyboard is smooth and feels decent once you get used to typing on it.
The keys don’t feel snappy but instead require a decent amount of force and travel to begin typing.
HP Pavilion x360’s Battery Life
Sadly the battery life of the Pavilion x360 isn’t great.
It lasted 6 hours and 17 minutes after continuous surfing over Wi-Fi at 150 nits which is below the common 6:39 laptop average.
The M1 MacBooks have great battery life though so if you’re looking for a powerful laptop that’ll last forever take a look at the M1 MacBook Air.
HP Envy x360
Things we liked
- Light
- Modern looking
- Aluminum body
- Fast AMD processor
- Good GPU
- Upgradable memory
- PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 SSD
- Excellent Touch-Screen
- Slim Bezel
- Lighted Keyboard + Numeric Keys
- Decent battery life
- Decent Audio
Things we didn’t
- Base model screen intensity only 250 nits but still decent indoors.
- Unable to fully dim screen (To listen to audio-only at night).
The Envy x360 hits the mark with its minimalist design.
The outside is subtle and made from aluminum.
Display bezels are much smaller than the 2019 model and the lid opens easily and the display does not have much of a bezel around it at all.
This reduced size shifts the keyboard and touchpad towards the edge of the screen while the touchpad goes almost just above the keyboard.
It has a two-level backlight keyboard that’s comfortable to use.
The key legend is easy to read the function keys include the usual volume and brightness hotkeys and they enable you to mute your microphone and block the webcam when you need to.
Almost hidden in the keyboard to the right of the left arrow key is a responsive fingerprint reader.
A strong point here is the glossy display.
It has excellent color and contrast and it’s bright at 400 nits.
Getting the reflections out on a sunny day is a little hard but otherwise it’s a great camera.
A tablet can be used on your arm more comfortably on this screen with the reduced bezels which can also be used with pens that accept MPP 2.0 pens simultaneously.
Without a doubt AMD’s newest mobile processors can outperform much more expensive Intel CPUs.
The Ryzen 5-4500U in this case can run faster than the Intel Core i7-1065G7 doing a better job at multiple tasks.
You won’t find a huge difference in performance between the 4500U and the 4700U so if only one model is available you can still get by.
Memory modules are soldered on and can’t be upgraded.
It lasted closer to seven hours when I streamed some of my favorite tracks browsed wrote and did basic photo editing.
It charges quickly though.
I got up to 50% in 30 minutes.
You’d be hard-pressed to come up with a better all-in-one laptop in this price range than the HP Envy x360 13 — assuming you can find one in stock.
A combination of AMD performance and battery life clinches the deal for this model.
Is there a better laptop at this price?
You won’t be able to play games on it however you will be able to edit videos and photos on the MBA and use it for however long you like due to its great battery life.

You will have to buy it separately if you really want a pen with the HP Envy x360.
Is HP Envy x360 good for art?
HP’s sleek 4-pound Envy x360 laptop is ideal for creatives on the go since it allows them to work on the go.
Is the HP Envy x360 good for college?
With a 13-inch screen it fits in messenger bags and backpacks and its overall weight is 2.87 pounds.
Can you write on the HP Envy?
However it’s highly recommended that you take a look at the MacBook Air M1 from Apple.
It’s priced similarly and is a great laptop if you want one to mainly type or write anything for hours on a daily basis.
