Laptop Is Stuck On Restarting? (How To Fix It!)

DISCLAIMER: I've personally researched, compared, and hand-picked these laptops and have only listed the best that deserve inclusion.

Is your laptop stuck on restarting? Here’s what could be the reason and how you can possibly fix it.

Restarting a laptop is usually the first thing that one tries to do. Other than shutting down, restarting is also an efficient way of giving your computer a fresh start.

However, some users have experienced their laptops being stuck on reboot.

Though this does not pose any serious risk to the device, it can be quite frustrating for people who are new to this problem.

This article discusses some basic reasons why you might see this issue and how you can fix it on your own.

One primary cause of your laptop getting stuck in restarting process could be a failure of certain system files which are required for the smooth working of the laptop.

When these files get damaged or corrupted due to various reasons, they fail to sync with other system components and cause freezing of the laptop.

There can be many other reasons for this to happen, but the best way to avoid them is to regularly update your device with the latest updates and drivers available online that will enhance performance and stay away from malware.

The first thing that you should do when you experience this problem on your laptop is a simple reboot. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds and then release it.

Allow the machine to turn off completely before turning it back on again using the power button.

If your computer gets stuck in restarting process even after a fresh start, try resetting Windows.

To do this, simultaneously press CTRL+ALT+DEL buttons on your keyboard while powering up the system.

This action will launch Task Manager which will allow you to see all processes running on your laptop.

Here, click the “Startup” tab and disable all the programs that are not required for Windows startup.

Now hit the Restart option on Task Manager to restart your laptop without any of these unnecessary files present in the system.

If the problem persists, use the System Restore feature on your device to “go back in time”.

There is also a possibility that some third-party programs or services running on your machine are preventing it from booting normally.

For this, run the Windows Startup program through Command Prompt by typing ‘msconfig’ at a cmd prompt and then hitting Enter key.

This will launch the System Configuration window with various tabs containing a list of all startup entries.

Disable the ones that are irrelevant to check if this helps in solving the problem.

Another major reason for your laptop being stuck on restarting is an installation of corrupt or incompatible drivers.

These are files that allow communication between different hardware components and software programs running on your laptop.

Such errors can cause improper connectivity which will result in the freezing of system resources.

The best way to fix this is to update all your device drivers installed on the machine to the latest available versions online.

Driver updates are available for each component separately so it would be better if you check them one by one instead of opting for an “all-in-one” pack.

If nothing works, take help from experts.
