Is Renting A Laptop A Good Idea? (A Bad One!)
Well if you only need a laptop for a day or two then yes renting a laptop is definitely the logical way to attain a laptop.
However if you plan on doing a more intense usage of the laptop such as using it for school or work then purchasing a laptop would be better.
Also renting laptops from companies may have some hidden charges and specifications that limit your user experience.
For example friends of mine rented their laptop from a company known as LaptopLocker for their trip to Europe so they could use it for business and leisure purposes.
The only problem was that the monthly rental fee came out to be at least $20 more expensive than going through any other vendor providing rentals of laptops.
And also the specs were very limited which resulted in very slow speeds when using certain programs or websites–slower than purchasing a normal computer!
However if you are looking to do something simple like surfing the internet with Google Chrome then renting is good.
Should I rent a laptop for long-term usage?
The answer is no.
However if you plan on using the laptop for school or work purposes then it would be better to just purchase one instead of renting.
This is because not only does purchasing a new laptop come out cheaper than renting for longer periods of time but also there are more specifications and customizations that you can choose from when buying one.
Also if you’re looking to do anything besides surfing the net with Chrome like watching movies or playing games online then purchasing your own laptop would be beneficial as well.
So overall I would say NO! don’t rent it! Renting laptops for long-term usage isn’t very logical since specially customized laptops for customers are usually offered at much lower prices than what renting companies are providing.
So if you’re looking to rent a laptop for short-term usage (a few days) then it is ok but if you plan on renting it long-term or doing more intense tasks with the laptop then I would honestly say don’t.
